The Blue Bird Essay ICED MOCHAMan does it get boring sitting around in your room for hours. Theres just nothing to do at this town thats not a crime. Compton isnt the best place to live but you get used to it after you have lived there your whole life. I miss my dog bubbles, its been only 5 months since bubbles died. Bubbles was a good dog but not the brightest of all dogs. My family and I were just sitting in the living room when all of a sudden Bubbles ran and jumped out of the window and fell 5 stories to his death. I was going through a lot of suffering for that dog. This went on for a long time, then after five minutes I didnt care anymore so I watched some T.V. Well enough of that I wonder what my Mom is doingMom, Im bored.Jack you need to find something to do, go out and play with your friends or something.Mom, all the kids my age that live around here are gang members or doingsomething illegal, I want another pet.? Right after I said pet my father Pa PaChulo turned around and looked at me. Pa Pa Chulo turned bright red and just started shacking. This is not good I should probably get out of here before he explodes. I jolted out of the apartment down the five flight of stairs and stopped when I was in the parking lot. I was very tired from this whole ordeal It felt like someone was pushing on my chest. See Im on the chubby side so you cant expect me to run down 5 flights of stairs and be alive. Yes lets go to the Pet Store and see what they have. While I was walking down the street many ideas of animals went through my head. How about a cat, no I had a cat before and they were boring and slept a lot. When we had an earthquake you could tell the cat didnt take it that well, he only slept 22 hours that day. Well how about a dog, I dont think so, I havent had the best of luck with dogs. Here I was at the Compto n Pet Store, but when I looked inside there was only cats and dogs. ?Hey Mister Pet Store guy do you have any animals that are not cats or dogsWell actually we just got a monkey.? Wow a monkey, that sounds like a cool pet but I dont know if that will go by that good with Pa Pa Chulo. It doesnt matter. ?Sure Ill take him.? The man went into the back room and came out with this monkey that didnt even go up to my knees, and was light brown. ?Hey I think Ill call him Ice Mocha. Mocha come on lets go shopping for you I dont want a naked monkey.? Mocha just stared at me and let out a high pitch scream that had my ears ringing. ?Damn Mocha you crazy, you better stop this screaming stuff now if you want to be able to stay with me. My Dad would make me get rid of you in a second.? Ice mocha jumped up on my shoulder and we left the store. Right across the street was a Nike Outlet store for Monkeys. ?Man Mocha how lucky are we.? We bought him some air jordans and a red and black warmup. Man Mocha your looking mad fresh but one thing is missing, hmm, oh yeah you need a nice big gold chain. We went next door to the Jewerly store and looked around. Mocha jumped up on the counter and looked around and stopped pointed to necklace and smiled at me. ?The necklace is $600.00, how am I supposed to pay for this Mocha screamed again except this time louder. .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62 , .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62 .postImageUrl , .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62 , .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62:hover , .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62:visited , .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62:active { border:0!important; } .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62:active , .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62 .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .udfc4421840e38e7bc4c60a01c05bac62:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Unemployment in Europe: Its Impact in the Future o Essay?Damn Ice Mocha didnt I just tell you five minutes ago not to scream, one more time and youll be a bald Mocha. How to Celebrate French Candlemas (Jour des Crêpes)
How to Celebrate French Candlemas (Jour des Crà ªpes) The Catholic holiday of Candlemas, celebrated every year on February 2, is a feast of crà ªpes thats meant to commemorate the purification of the Virgin Mary and the presentation of baby Jesus. In France, this holiday is called la Chandeleur, Fà ªte de la Lumià ¨reà or Jour des crà ªpes. Note that this holiday bears no relation toà Lyons Fà ªte des lumià ¨res, which takes place December 5 to 8. A Bit of Fortune-Telling Not only do the French eat a lot of crà ªpes on la Chandeleur, but they also do a bit of fortune-telling while making them. It is traditional to hold a coin in your writing hand and a crà ªpe pan in the other, then flip the crà ªpe into the air. If you manage to catch the crà ªpe in the pan, your family will supposedly be prosperous for the rest of the year. French Proverbs and Sayings for Chandeleur There are all kinds of French proverbs and sayings for Chandeleur; here are just a few. Note the similarities to the Groundhog Day predictions made in the US and Canada: la Chandeleur, lhiver cesse ou reprend vigueurOn Candlemas, winter ends or gets worse la Chandeleur, le jour croà ®t de deux heuresOn Candlemas, the day grows by two hoursChandeleur couverte, quarante jours de perteCandlemas covered (in snow), forty days lostRosà ©e la Chandeleur, hiver sa dernià ¨re heureDew on Candlemas, winter at its final hour The Crà ªpe-Throwing Game Heres a fun way to celebrate la Chandeleur in French classes. All you need are aà crà ªpe recipe, ingredients, paper plates and a small prize, such as a book or a $5 bill. Thanks to a fellow French teacher for sharing this. The day before, ask a couple of students to make a pile of crà ªpes and bring them into class (or make them yourself). For the sake of an even playing field, the crà ªpes need to be the same size, about 5 inches in diameter.Give each student a paper plate and write his or her name on the bottom. The object of the game is to catch a crà ªpe in the very center of the plate.Stand on a chair about 10 feet away from the students and throw a crà ªpe, frisbee-style, for students to catch. Once they catch the crà ªpe, they cant jiggle or flip it to try to reposition it on the plate. After each student has caught a crà ªpe, ask two adults, such as fellow teachers, to come into theà room and judge which crà ªpe is the most perfectly centered.à The winner gets a prize. Then you can all celebrate by eating crà ªpes with an assortment of fillings and/or toppings, which can beà sweetà orà savory.

Criminal Justice Workplace Observation Paper Research
Criminal Justice Workplace Observation - Research Paper Example According to Schwartz, the city of New Orleans had little about safety which has become integral part of the plan associated with the overhaul of New Orleans Police after being involved in a scandal. Then if this is the case, New Orleans Police Department in the first place might have significant problem with significant behavioral factors that could greatly influence an organization. Leadership is an essential factor in an organization as it consists of fundamental issues about leading people and the entire group especially in upper management, middle management and lower level management in the case of New Orleans Police Department. This agency might have become so passive at taking its leadership role for the safety of the people from the past, but due to the need to improve, the management realizes its great role to ratify changes concerning its significant implemented policies. As of the moment, the management realizes the need to come into agreement for further recruitment and training, performance evaluations and promotions, misconduct-complaint issues and even on matters concerning off-duty assignments in which corruptions would normally arise (Schwartz, 2012). This is a great concern which involves issue of leading the entire team and even application of control. Furthermore, the system of values and beliefs remarkably changes as well. As of the moment, the New Orleans Police Department realizes the importance and value of its strong relationship tie with the community as stated in its 122-page agreement known as a consent decree (Schwartz, 2012). It would not be so easy to adapt to this kind of culture right away, as the New Orleans Police Department was used to something which would normally take less for creating dynamic relationship with the society. The kind of culture therefore that has been evolving in the entire organization for a long period of time has become poor in initiating control. As a result, the existing agency has become less with it s becoming people and goal oriented organization, which eventually reflects on the management and peopleââ¬â¢s feedback regarding the cityââ¬â¢s level of safety and the departmentââ¬â¢s existing relationship with the society. The New Orleans Police Department has a culture not so rigid about implementation of its role for the society and at some point it fails to initiate a high level of control for its performance for the society. This in the first place should have been remarkably emancipated first from the internal environment of the agency. However, due to its lack of direction for leading the entire team, the system of values and beliefs of the subordinates and for the entire organization within the agency has fell short in the societyââ¬â¢s expectations. One indication of this has been the reported violations against the use of force, searches and seizures, arrest, interrogations, photographic lineups and more in which all them have been taken into account in the 1 22-page agreement called consent decree. The system of values and beliefs within the New Orleans Police Department has therefore momentarily trying to leapfrog to something better which the management has become so positive about. In addition, due to various changes and adapting of new policies, New Orleans Police Department at some point has become concern about the implementation of the law. The law in this case, which showcases about addressing the basic right of the people, has become the stepping stone why New Orleans Police

MKTG 4050- The Marketing of Osteoporosis Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
MKTG 4050- The Marketing of Osteoporosis - Essay Example asers) that there is efficacy in taking these products as shown from the improved health condition that alleviates pain and suffering from osteoporosis. From the point of view of manufacturers, for instance, the critical positioning or selection process to be decided on would include price of the product, efficacy, propensities for side-effects (safety), and availability (or ease of access) and the overall satisfaction to be derived from the drug. If one were to manufacture the most effective drug for osteoporosis, given the product feature characteristics and the value positioning noted above, the most important value that one would focus on is efficacy, or the ability of the drug to provide the desired effect (as promised) at the most immediate time frame, with the least side-effects. Focusing on this product feature would ensure that the customers would be satisfied with the drug, and would essentially purchase it despite applying premium strategies in price or place, as needed. Meaning, even if one would position the brand to be a little higher priced and to be offered in locations that are far or limited, customers would still seek to purchase this product due to the effectiveness of alleviating pain and improving the health condition of patients with osteoporosis, when compared to other drugs. History wk 12 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
History wk 12 - Essay Example They showed what other studies have shown, that there are spatial differences between men and women and that women are better in verbal skills. What I wonder, is whether these are different because of the way that children are trained. Do boy children tend to be trained to see things more spatially than girls are shown? Do women spend more time talking and by doing so, increasing their verbal skills? Is this why many men find talking about problems etc., too difficult because they have not been trained in that way? Schultz and Schultz (2008) suggest that that there is bias and discrimination still going on when people come together. In psychology, I have seen this become a problem, especially with some students who may be from the Middle East or other countries at times when the United States feels threatened. Although this may not be what we want to see in psychology, I think it still exists and that we need. The idea of gender intrigues me because today, there is so much going on w ith it. Some people are changing their genders, feeling they were born into the wrong one. There is an ongoing debate about whether gays and lesbians should be able to marry. Although this may not directly take a look at gender, it does apply in that often gays and lesbians transcend the gender they were born into. ... When I first came into this course, I had some idea of the various areas of psychology because I received them from different courses taken before this course. I think my personal view of psychology would be that it is the study of how people deal with the world around them. I believe that it is more than just a study of the mind, because there are so many different aspects of it. As an example, we brought up the idea of ââ¬Å"The Secretâ⬠in this class and I believe that it is part of what people are studying today. Those who are following this are attempting to understand a different way of behavior that will help them move forward. It is a belief system that many have adopted and made work for them. I think that counseling has to take into consideration a clientââ¬â¢s belief system and the fact that it will not necessarily be the same as that of the counselor. In fact, the counselor may be opposed to the clientââ¬â¢s belief system and/or lifestyle, but they may need to have a way of dealing with it anyway or to refer the client to someone else. As a counselor who is a scholar-practitioner, I believe that it is important to continue to read in my field after I leave college and to interact with other scholar-practitioners. I do not believe that we can work in a vacuum and sometimes, realistically, many of us tend to get a degree and then work in an agency for many years without more development. I believe it is important to understand the stressors that people are dealing with on a day to day basis, and to study those areas that we are going to work with clients in. As an example, the world is seeing major stress related to PTSD coming from the war. Because of this, a scholar practitioner is going to need to understand PTSD and the types of things that work well with

Comparing Measure for Measure and The Merchant of Venice, As You Like I
Parallels between Measure for Measure and The Merchant of Venice, As You Like It, and Twelfth Night What is comedy?Ã Funk and Wagnalls New Encyclopedia says: "A comedy depicts the follies and absurdities of human beings."Ã Webster's Dictionary defines comedy as: "A drama or narrative with a happy ending."Ã Shakespeare's play, Measure for Measure, fits both of these descriptions.Ã Follies and absurdities are present in the play: Lucio slanders the Duke, not realizing that his crude remarks are being spoken to the Duke himself; Angelo abuses his power thinking that the Duke is not present to know; and Ragozine happens to die in prison the day a head is needed to substitute for Claudio's.Ã The play also ends on several merry notes, consistent with the definition of comedy.Ã For example, Angelo's life is spared and he is forgiven; Mariana is married to Angelo; the Duke punishes Lucio humorously with marriage; Barnardine is pardoned; and Claudio is saved.Ã The parallels between Measure for Measure and three other Shakespearean comedies, The Merchant of Venice, As Yo u Like It, and Twelfth Night, also help to classify Measure for Measure as a comedy.Ã In Measure for Measure, like in The Merchant of Venice, As You Like It, and Twelfth Night, an arbitrary law or obstacle is eventually overcome; a disguised character affects the outcome of the play; a clown adds humor to the plot; a female character bears a large responsibility for the final resolution; and forgiveness and reconciliation mark the conclusion of the action. Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã Some critics consider Measure for Measure a "dark" play because of the serious obstacles encountered by the characters.Ã However, doesn't The Merchant of Venice also have near-tragic hindrances that af... ... only does Measure for Measure fit the definition of comedy, it also parallels Shakespeare's other comedies.Ã Like The Merchant of Venice, As You Like It, and Twelfth Night, the plot of Measure for Measure overcomes an adversarial obstacle, possesses a disguised character who affects the denouement, touches the audience with the humor of a clown or ruffian, endures the influence of a powerful a female character, and ends with forgiveness and reconciliation.Ã The similarities between Measure for Measure and The Merchant of Venice, As You Like It, and Twelfth Night help to place Measure for Measure in the same category with Shakespeare's other comedies.Ã Furthermore, the "problems" many critics single out in Measure for Measure are also present in The Merchant of Venice, As You Like It, and Twelfth Night, and further help to classify Measure for Measure as a comedy.
